Brief summary |
There are numerous requirements from different organisations relating to groundworks on new housing sites. Anecdotal evidence suggests that some Developers are being required to comply with inconsistent interpretations of different standards resulting in conflicting priorities which could hamper the smooth flow of development. New legislation has also been introduced in the form of the Flood and Water Management Act which has potential impacts upon development design and implementation. The NHBC Foundation undertook this project to identify the scale and nature of issues already being encountered, to test/understand the levels of awareness of legislative changes and to test reaction to a number of proposals for mandatory build standards for adoptable sewers, currently under consideration and/or consultation by Defra. The outcomes are intended to provide evidence to help develop a more streamlined and efficient process for dealing with ground related construction requirements and to support the consultation processes. |
