Management approaches and existing literature

There are many factors which can affect waste reduction and resource efficiency from the outset of a project. An organisations attitude can have both positive and negative repercussions, through the procurement methods which are favoured, the relationships nurtured with partners and suppliers, down to the training given to site supervisors and operatives themselves. The following guidance has been divided into several areas which can influence resource efficiency during the design and construction phases of a project. Higher level management issues are included within the design phase.

Please select the area you are interested in to explore a range of options for sustainable resource use. (This also leads to information on publications which can provide more detailed information on the chosen topic).
